Conjunctions are words that link sentences together. Coordinating conjunctions are used to join two clauses together to form one sentence. The three main coordinating conjunctions are: ‘and’, ‘but’ and ‘so’. For example: Mr McCarthy was bored. He watched television. You can add the coordinating conjunction ‘so’ in between these clauses to create one sentence: Mr McCarthy was bored so he watched television. Using ‘and’, ‘but’ or ‘so’, join these clauses together to create one sentence.
