In English today, you are identifying different types of sentences. You need to decide if a sentence is a simple sentence, a compound sentence or a complex sentence. Remember, a simple sentence has a main clause in it (a noun and a verb) and makes sense on its own. A compound sentence has two main clauses which are joined together by a coordinating conjunction (and, but, so) and a complex sentence sentence has a subordinating conjunction (as, while, because, when, if, although) that joins a main clause to a subordinating clause. Are the following sentences simple, compound or complex sentences?
